Rhonda - I was very sorry to hear the news about . I sincerely hope that he follows all of his physician's recommendations and, if he's a smoker, that he quits. My mom had COPD (emphysema) and I know that things would have worked out better for her if she had followed through her doctor's recommendations. Does his doc know that he works around noxious chemicals? It would surprise me if his doc was okay with the idea of his continuing to work around stuff that could cause further damage. Thanks to EVERYONE who has said even the smallest prayers or hoped for the best for my fiance .He does have Emphysema and is down to 50% lung capacity. The doctor released him from the hospital today and I am so thrilled. Actually the doctor told him he could go back to work on Tuesday. I dont know if he will be able to continue working on this particular job. He works around wood, laminating, and chemicals. One particular chemical is Toluene which from all the studying Ive done tells me that he already had Emphysema and this chemical he works around without the right protection has brought it out. I am going to insist that he wears a ventilation mask when no one else does. I think the company could be liable if they dont get up to OSHA's standards of working around this particular chemical. everyone and let you know and most importantly thank all of you for your concern and prayers. I do believe in the power of prayer and in past troubles have posted for others to pray. Every single time it does seem to help tremendously as I have always believed that God works in mysterious ways.
