Pam - Is there a chance that they have a pain clinic associated with SUNY-Syracuse (Upstate Medical Center)? Might be worth checking it out. BarbaraPamela Fredette wrote:

Pam - What does your GP have to say about all of this? SOmehow it would seem to me that if your GP can't help you with the RSD that they'd help you find a doc who can. Where do you live again? BarbaraPamela Fredette wrote:

Dawn, I ordered my neurontin from canada and it got confiscated at the border. with the high security. So I had to go to my doctors nurse and ask her for a new scrip for neurontin. thank god she gave me one but I could only afford 7 days, it cost me 100.00 . then the pharmacy called and said they are shipping it from new zealand and I should get 3 months supply next week. I was so scard, but starting monday I will be doctor shopping and so on to find someone that knows rsd and wants to treat me. wish me luck.... soft hugs to you and holly and kitty Pamdawn lorenz wrote:

Pam,

So sorry just saw your message this morning and would have written you back much sooner. As far as the Neurontin goes I agree with Tonia a 100% because I did stop taking it on my own and was in the ER twice! It is no joke and if you have a very serious death wish than please do not stop taking it! It was absolute agony and will never do that again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so afraid that all these drugs would effect my MS that I just stopped cold turkey and could have died. I also stopped all my pain medicine at the same time! I cannot even begin to tell you how sick I was for at least three weeks!!!!!

As far as getting a doctor goes, the suggestion that I have is to find one that is knowledgeable of RSD no matter what there title. It could be a GP, neurologist, pain doc, rheumatologist? The most important thing is to make sure they are board certified and also know about RSD!!! Call the office and ask if the doctor treats RSD. If they say yes, then ask what RSD stands for! You see I made this mistake a while ago with a neurologist. I called and asked if the doctor treated RSD and the receptionist said oh yes. Well when I went to see the doctor and told her that I had RSD, she asked what it was? Well needless to say did not spend much time there, that is why you need to make sure they know about it. My doctor just wanted new patients and receptionist was willing to say anything to get her new patients! Pam I would even call the local hospital and see who they can recomend to you. If you are close to Albany Medical ! !

Center I can give you the name of an orthapedic that is absolutely the BEST!!!! He is my Moms and he teaches other doctors. He did double knee replacement surgery on my Mom and is also going to do shoulder surgery on her after the holidays. He is great and even asked him a few questions myself last time I was there with my Mom about RSD and MS. He was wonderful and took the time to explain things to me. His name is Dr. Fukes. I can get you more info if you would like!

Take Care and I hope that you are having a less painful day today! LOL and Best Wishes!

Dawn

Pam,

No Matter What, you CANNOT Stop taking Neurontin Cold Turkey!!!

I went into a semi Coma for 2 weeks because of a retarded doctor stopped seeing me, and refused to give me enough to wean off of it. Because of him, I still have what my current doctor calls "brain seizures" every so often that will knock me off my chair when they hit.

All because of the doctor decided that he no longer wanted me as a patient, and no longer wanted to prescribe me the medication he started me on 3 months prior.

I know of others that has gone into Full Comas for months, some has left to go to the store, and 4 days later the State Patrol 4 States away finds them dazed and confused, because they ended up driving and driving.....because they forgot where they had been going, and forgot where they lived and got scared.

I have heard many stories, including those about people actually dying because their doctors stopped their Neurontin Cold Turkey.

So, be VERY CAREFUL with the Neurontin!!!!!
