Hi

Most doctors today usually want to start you off with oral meds, exercise, and

diet. They usually want you to sign up for classes too which is a very good

idea. You learn alot from them.

Things may seem very overwhelming at first, but they do get better :)

Willow

Is the usual practice these days to let the patient

try to control this through diet and exercise first? I

am about 20 pounds overweight and am 56 years old.

Hi Beverly,

In my ancient brain I remember some program on pbs years ago which

told of quite a few areas of the country with a high cluster incidence

of cancer. I sure can't remember where though. Be well all.

Hi Beverly: Yep, there are clusters around the US. I'm not sure about the

Rochester area,

but I know the Long Island area has been identified. I live in northern

California in another

cluster area. (in the Bay Area) There are lots of women who have organized

research

groups around here, trying to uncover all the toxins, poisons, and contaminants.

I'm

personally paranoid about the pesticides that have undoubtedly leached into our

water

supplies. But like everyone else, I can't figure out how to avoid all the

possible causes of

this epidemic. Its so overwhelming.... take care, Anne V.

> Thanks so much for responding and your words of encouragement. I spoke with

someone at our local Breast Cancer Coalition Group and she said if she were in

my

situation she'd have a double mastectomy. When I go back to the surgeon for my

pre-op

visit on Monday I'm going to talk to him about it again. My husband seems ok

with

whatever decision I make.

just think it's

a bad dream, but then realize it's real. Tomorrow I go to the hospital for my

pre-op with

them.

live near

there. I read somewhere that there is an unusually high incidence of BC in our

area. Has

anyone else heard/read that?
