Hello my dear,

You asked what the side effects from a hysterectomy would be for you. Well,

there are many differing opinions out there. Some women experience a shut

down of their ovaries even though they are left behind. Some women may have

a drop in their sex drive and desire. Some women may feel that they

experience similar symptoms as menopause even though their ovaries were left

intact. But a hyst may shock your system and your hormones may take a dive

for a while. But for many women this hormone fluxuation levels out and the

ovaries begin to function normally again.

Here is a great website that can answer many of your questions. The news is

not all negative. There are those women (who keep their ovaries) that are

thrilled with their hysts. They have no more pain, no more bleeding, and

their sex drive has not diminished.

I would hope that those of you other ladies of the list can add to this

discussion. I am not an expert on this topic since I have not had a

hysterectomy myself yet. I have come close many times due to these

fibroids, so thus, I have read much material on the subject and spoken to a

number of women who have undergone the surgery.

Best wishes to you my dear,

Sonja :)
