This is what initially brought my husband to a dx of MELAS. He woke up one

morning and couldn't see right. Several hours later at the ER he had pretty

much lost all site. The Doc's couldn't figure out what was going on.. they ran

every test. Then the seizures started, then unresponsive for a few days.

After some time in the hospital, now we know why he's only 5'1, 120 pounds with

a

hypotrophic cardiomyopathy, diabetes, seizures, fatigue and significant

hearing loss. The early deaths and sickness in his family now has a name. So,

yep... I have heard of the temporary blindness! It is scary... sorry.

It has happened to me one time. In one eye, completely blind for about 15

or 20 mintues. Very scary. Came on sudden, sure hope it never happens

again. they did all sorts of test on me and couln't find a reason. One

very interesting thing though is that once I started on 02 nightly, my

severe eye muscle pain stopped pretty much. I still have double vision and

when I go into fatigue mode the eyes will hurt again, but if I don't try to

read or use my eyes alot I don't have the pain that I use to have before the

02 was started.

Smiles to you,
