Guest guest
>>What do you mean by self medicating? Did you diagnose yourself, then treat yourself? How did you figure it out? Was there a lot of trial and error? And where can you get the Armour? << Self medicating is just what it sounds like. Most of us were diagnosed from testing, some still couldn;t even get a diagnosis but went on symptoms. I was on Synthroid for years to the point I was dying from low thyroid even taking ridiculous amounts of Synthroid. Many folks seem to do fairly well on that for some tie then it just doesn;t work to relieve symptoms, some it never does work at all for. The tests they use to determine the dosage of Synthroid (or Armour for that matter) are very inaccurate. Most doctors rely on the TSH test which leaves many people still very hypo when their testing by TSH shows them to be adjusted well. When this happens often there is a stalemate between them & their doctors. I decided if I wanted to live I needed to self medicate and I have not been sorry. I was dying. I was on about 6 prescription drugs and wearing compression panty hose to keep my legs from swelling. My blood pressure was unresponsive to meds and kept going higher. I was VERY sick. The only thing wrong with me actually was LOW THYROID. All my blood pressure symptoms and swelling has stopped completely with taking Armour in fairly high doses, and for me at least I had to add in Cytomel. Yes it has taken some time. I am going on 6 years of self treatment now, but I gave the doctors 25 years to adjust my dosage right before that and you see where that got me, so I figure the 6 years I have into it, and now feeling better than I have in over 20 years is well worth the time it took to get me here. I buy my meds online, Janie regularly posts the websites where they can be ordered. There are also places online where you can order your own testing if you are not confident enough to go by just symptoms, but I have not got that problem!
