Guest guest
, I just wanted to " chime in " here. I just wanted to let you know that I've been exactly where you are with the hip pain and want to assure you that you are not crazy. I had bad hip pain for 3 years. I'd go to the ortho every 6 months and demand an x-ray. (Since I had already had one hip replaced and knew the benefits, I was all for replacing the other!) Anyway, he would always say, " I'm sorry, but there is nothing here that requires surgery. " He was very sympathetic, and conceded that there is probably a lot of disease activity going on, but that it hadn't caused *visible* damage, yet. That was before Enbrel, unfortunately, because it did continue to erode. At one point, he even ordered a bone scan to make sure he wasn't missing something, but nothing showed up. Finally, after 3 years of pain, I finally got my hip replacement. During that time, I had 3 steroid injections. They would help some, for a few weeks. I was also on lortab and ultram for pain, along with anti-inflammatories and of course, prednisone. I tell you this because *I* thought I was going crazy. I was in this severe pain and there was no way to " validate " it. I had no proof it hurt! Nobody acted like I needed proof, but I did! I really hope that once you get your blood pressure under control that you can find the right mix of RA drugs for you. I think you are in the early stages of deterioration of your hip and that there is plenty of time, yet, to slow it down and postpone or prevent a hip replacement. Hang in there, and I'll be praying for your health. Kim
