Just in the last few weeks I've started to watch it again with him and can actually get some of the answers. But dang - if they had a category on Thyroid...we would all get every single answer. Guest guest
The adrenal glands produce cortisol, not the thyroid, however, the body will compensate with extra cortisol when the thyroid is not producing enough. Thus the adrenal fatigue you hear of. The thyroid or it's influence is both far-reaching and critical to normal body function. It affects heart rate, cholesterol level, body weight, energy level, muscle strength, skin condition, vision, menstrual regularity, mental state and a host of other conditions. Despite its pervasive influence, however, the thyroid gland and its disorders are still not widely understood among the general public.(OR DOCTORS.) LOL I thought it was going to say " not widely understood among the general population of doctors. " LOL Anyway, I was watching Jeopardy one night and an answer was on there, something like " a butterfly shaped organ that controls metabolism " and NO ONE knew the answer! I'm sitting in my living room yelling, " THYROID " ! I couldn't believe it! But then I don't guess those with hypothyroidism would be on Jeopardy because they can't think fast enough.
