First trip to ER for 04

Grrr, I'm having a bit of a grump I'm afraid as I had hoped to go

more than 5 days into the New Year before making my first trip to

ER/casualty...but sadly that hope was ruined this afternoon. I tried

to get up from my computer chair, the old knees buckled and my poor

arm couldn't take the weight so promptly folded up - leaving my wrist

joint completely dislocated and lying at over 90 degrees to normal

(my fingers were touching my forearm it was so far out of position)

This is only the second time it's gone like this and last time I

ended up in plaster due to a break in the small joints form the

force.

Thankfully Mum and I managed to get it back into joint (years of

practice at reducing dislocations and my Mum is an Orthopaedic

trained nurse too which is very handy!) But it swelled up and just

didn't look right so hence my trip to the hospital for yet more

additions to my radiation count! Luckily for me my friend was working

so I got well looked after, even if she did make fun of me starting

to glow green from my x-ray exposure! I have gotten away lightly on

the fracture side this time fortunately, but have significant

ligament and soft tissue damage and some sensation loss in my hand

too. So I'm rigidly splinted until I see my upper limb specialist

next week - poor guy I'm already seeing him about my shoulder and

neck at that appointment, he'll think I'm taking advantage at this

rate!!

I'm thinking that I should just have camped out at the hospital as

I'm back again for my shoulder MRI tomorrow too! Oh well, there goes

my resolution to spend less time in hospitals I guess...

Take care everyone and I hope you are having good days.

Love and hugs...Jo

xx
