If you are concerned about gangrene one thing you could do is to inspect you feet everyday for any kind of break in the skin. If you have and open area it could allow in bacteria which could cause gangrene. keep the area clean and dry. Use a little antibiotic ointment like bacitracin. If you notice any swelling, redness or heat go to the doc or ER ASAP. This can spread extremely rapidly and early treatment is essential for the best out come. I had something similar to gangrene called necrotizing faciitis. It is like the flesh eating disease. It was caused from the bite from a poisonous spider called a Brown Recluse. This is what started the RSD nightmare. Surgery after surgery, months in the hosp, lots of complications blah blah blah !!!!!!!! So what I am trying to say is keep on top of it. Be especially meticulous if you are diabetic. Hope this helps, Take care, Love Jai
