Guest guest
I was on a website not too long ago and thought t link between mitochondrial disorders and hemophelia. My mom's brother died of hemo back in 1952 and my mom's sister has I believe 4 grandson's that have been diagnosed with hemo. 1 passed away at two years old. I had a test done to check my clotting factor and it was above normal meaning I clot easier than most people. It is carried between the mother to the son I know. And some forms of mito are carried from the mother to the child. I know there is a link but I can't figure it out. There is also mito problems on my Dad's side of the family. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it. Thanks, McCombs
Guest guest
With hemophelia, it is passed by the mothers to their sons because the defective gene is on the X (female only) chomasone. The females can have a mild form of the disease. In mito, the form that is passed on by mothers only is in the mitochondrial DNA. Genetics are really hard to understand because there are so many different modes of disease transmission. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Wed, 25 Aug 2004 21:13:10 -0700 (PDT) > To: > Subject: relations of mito and hemophelia > > I was on a website not too long ago and thought t link between mitochondrial > disorders and hemophelia.
