Tonia, Lin and and anyone else waiting on SSDI or SSI,

I applied in March 2002 for SSDI...I got a lawyer after my first denial. I got 2 denials and then waited for hearing...I never was sent to see a SSDI dr...they went solely on my medical records and drs evaluations. I finally got my hearing in Dec 2003 and then recieved the approval from the judge in feb 2004. In MA if you get to hearing 99% of the cases are approved, I don't know about other states but since it is federal i would assume the odds are the same. It's the waiting part that is horrible...I did get my first check in april 2004 but didn't get my big retroactive check for what they owed me til aug 2004...I still haven't gotten my kid's checks for SSDI under my benefits and I keep calling and getting told it will be another couple of weeks before they get theirs. I did get my medicare benefits in sept 2004..they have a 2 yr waiting period for anyone who gets ssdi but you go from the day you applied not when you finally get

approved. I know it's hard to wait to get to hearing..I was without income for 2 yrs and lived on personal loans and credit cards...so I know what it is like to have no money when waiting for your benefits to finally kick in. Once you get to hearing, hopfully everything will fall in place for you guys...I can not imagine any one of you not being approved for SSDI/SSI...so just don't stress over it...Good luck and I hope your hearings get done quickly...Hugs..GinnyTonia wrote:

Lin and ,

I'm still waiting also....I applied in 2003. My Lawyer said that we should be getting the call to let me know that i'l lbe going in front of the judges some time in Jan....I'll see the judges in Feb. I really hope so!!!

Like you , My stay in the hospital in Feb this year should prove something I would think!!

I'm waiting for the call to say I can speak to the judge. I started this process in fall 2002. The attorney claims the place they review cases or whatever is way, way behind. Well, the longer they take the more stuff that happens--like it spreading! My hospital stay in Jan. of this year ought to convince them I've had a problem!

Love,

N.
