Hi Gracie ..

from one " dog show " person to another .. welcome!

As far as your pool and the sunshine .. you are going to have to make some

changes to your swimming schedule. Swimming is a

great exercise program, but not in the sun! You will have to either do it in the

evening .. or like me .. in the middle of the night! Your

days of bronze legs and arms are over .. unless you use some of the self tanning

lotions on the market .. the tan in a bottle!

Sunscreen is going to become your best friend. UV rays are a known trigger for

Lupus flares .. this includes, not only the sun, but the

uv rays that come down even when there are clouds covering the sun. Also, you

are going to have to be careful around fluerescent

lighting fixtures (those rectangle light fixtures with long tubes for bulbs that

are in EVERY store in America!).

For swimming: you can try swimming using a water repellant sunscreen lotion.

There are several on the market.

I live in Florida .. Orlando to be exact .. and have had to give up training

dogs outside during the day because of the sun exposure. The

flares of lupus lasting days were not worth the half hour to an hour in the sun.

And lets face it .. clients dont want you coming to their

house at 3 am to train their dog! So that end of the business suffered as well.

So I can understand your frustration..
