Guest guest
I looked at his pictures and I, personally, don't see any facial flattening or assymetry. I know that our babies can look different to us as mothers than they do to others but I really don't see anything at all. What kind of helmet does he have? If you're concerned about the way that it fits on one side of his face you can request that the orthotist make some adjustments for a better fit. I have to say though, that he is just the cutest little thing. So adorable! Guest guest
I looked at the pics too and I didn't really see any problem. Maybe one cheek is ever so slightly fuller, but I didn't see flattening. However if you're not confident about the band you should get a second opinion. Once we started my dd band we went after 6 weeks to see the doc who gave us the Rx (cranial facial plastic surgeon) can you get another consultation to see if your doctor is concerned? are there other orthos in the office of close by that you can ask? what kind of band do you have? Is the band rotating or does it seem to push into one side of the face and not the other? -christine mom to sydney/ 10 mo/ starband grad 10/25/06 > > Noah has been in his helmet for three months and I started noticing > that one side of his face seems a little flatter. Guest guest
hi, i just posted, but looked at the pics again. one thing is from the photo is there a pigmentation difference on the right side? it looks like the skin is a little lighter or there is a shadow on the pic. is this where you see the flattening? if there is a pigmentation difference is that making it look flatter? I'm not sure if it is just the photo. -christine > > Noah has been in his helmet for three months and I started noticing > that one side of his face seems a little flatter. Guest guest
I see what you're saying about the right side of his face being a bit flattened, but only because I noticed the same thing about my son after a few months in his first band. I have to ask - how well do you think the band fits?? Is the flattening on the same side as the flat spot in the back or the opposite side?? Does it look a lot worse when you look in the mirror?? My son's forehead appeared to flatten out on the opposite side from the back which is odd since there was always plenty of 'room to grow' in the front. I'm not sure if it's because his first helmet was always rotated (so much so that his ear would fold forward at night) and was somehow pushing the bones out of alignment or if it was because his tort was not being treated. (Long story, the doctors kept telling me it was 'nothing' since it was so minor...) He's been in his DOCband and PT for 2 months now and we've seen definite improvement. I used to REALLY notice the asymmetry in the mirror, but now I have to look for it. He's still got a ways to go, but if he has as much improvement in the next two months as he has in the last two months I think we'll be ready to graduate.
