Guest guest
I was diagnosed with fibroids 3 weeks ago and I am scared to death. My obgyn said that it is grapefruit sized. I haven't had major symptoms so I never suspected anything was wrong until I felt the lump on my abdomen and went to the doc to get it checked out. The only symptoms that I'd experienced were lower back pain once in a while and lately bloating. My obgyn whom I have been seeing for the last 5 years for my annual check up had not detected it previously. How could it go undetected. When I questioned her, how she could have missed it... during the pelic exam she said that it was probably behind my pelvic bone and so it could not have been detected until it got to the current size. I wasn't convinced and I am still not. As I had never heard of fibroids and had just been diagnosed with having them, there were a lot of questions on my mind almost immediately, but she wasn't very sensitive or comforting and she simply told me to go and read up on them on the internet. I was about to burst into tears and that's all she told me (I couldn't beleive it). Well, I have been getting educated about fibroids and this forum has been very helpful. I just had an ultrasound done. Do any of you have any referrals for a good (compassionate) doctor in the L.A. area specializing in myomectomy. I am thinking that this is probably the best option for me, because I don't yet have kids and I am only 32. Thank you. AD
Guest guest
Your situation sounds similar to mine. Although my doc has been very inormative and helpful. She found a 9 cm fibroid at my last exam. This also went undetected until know. Probably because of the location, posterior, and I was assymptimatic until recently. I will be having a myo the end of Jan or begining of Feb. I chose myo because I want to be able to have kids. If your doc is hesitant to answer questions or give you the guidence you need, find a new doc. Good luck M
