Guest guest
RH... I always feel better when I'm off carbs completely so that would be the same thing as being in ketosis. Unfortunately, my sugar dips far too low and puts me into another type of medical crisis. I can't win for losing and that's literal because I lost more weight than I ever have on a carb free diet vs any other type. When I lost it, I was going to the doctor to have blood work drawn and urine tested every week. I hope you are doing this too. I didn't want to mention this because NT is said to be very good for older age hearing loss but I am almost sure that I am hearing more in my only implanted side that is working despite most of the electrodes being out of the cochlea. I noticed that I could understand some of the audio on TV earlier today. I'm going to keep my " ear " out on this because that would be a very big benefit to me. Other than that, I cannot say that symptoms have improved. I just feel better and feeling better makes it much easier to cope with all the other things. Congrats on the 12 lb weight loss. Alice I am doing well being in ketosis from an Atkins-like diet, more strength than I've had in years. Also lost 12 lbs... My question is, Alice, do you see all symptoms equally improved? I find being in ketosis helps my overall body strength, but doesn't help my vision symptoms too much. And my cognitive symptoms seem to be related to high ammonia, they come and go. But I don't notice other symptoms getting worse when some get better.

I am not getting tests done, unfortunately, my back up daycare is busy taking care of his brother (my uncle), so I haven't even had testing done for me and my son that was prescribed end of June, including brain MRIs, blood tests and urine tests. I just bought Ketostix to test my urine, but haven't used them yet. Interesting to find you have success with that too - too bad there aren't nutritionists out there who could figure out how you could avoid the blood sugar issues. I have tried to eat " unlimited " non- starchy vegetables - peppers, onions, lettuce, etc. - it decreases the weight loss, but I think it helps me feel better. > I didn't want to mention this because NT is said to be very good > for older age hearing loss but I am almost sure that I am hearing > more in my only implanted side that is working despite most of the > electrodes being out of the cochlea. I have to disagree - " feeling bad " is a symptom, and not feeling like getting out of bed, whether from fatigue or not, is a problem. So if the NT factor helps that, *and* possibly your hearing, WOW - that's great and we're so happy to hear you are doing better. > Congrats on the 12 lb weight loss. Thanks! I don't recommend ketosis as I would NADH, as my doctor said being in ketosis could be a no-no for some mitochondrial disease patients.
