Guest guest
Hello everyone. Sorry I don't post often enough. Welcome to all the newcomers and my sypathies to all who have suffered losses, crashes and other sad times. I just turned 42 on 6/25. Since I have not menstruated since 5/03 I am considered menopausal. In addition to mito symptoms, including dysautonomia, I am struggling with menopausal symptoms including the usual night sweats, mood swings and problems with sleeping. After having another sleep study done, I sat down with the sleep dr. and he said to me " why aren't you seeking relief for your menopausal symptoms...they may be clouding why you're having sleep issues. " I told him that my GYN will not give out HRT since the big study that came out a year ago. He urged me to look into bio-identical hormones. So I found a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement (As an aside...this form of treatment has been made very popular recently with the publication of Suzanne Somer's new book " The Sexy Years " ) Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement uses foods and supplements found in nature to correct your hormone balance. I had some blood work done and am awaiting the results. I have been put on a modified Mediterrean Diet as Expecting to have to give the 25 cent explanation....I was shocked to hear she actually knew what it was, what role mitochondria play with hormones and also knew of a doctor local to me that was treating women (and men?) with glutathione iv's...... From doing a minimal, let me emphasize minimal scan of the internet....I see the glutiathione/hormone issue is being researched for treatment of varioius diseases including Parkinsons', etc. Anyone have any info on this practice? I found the Mitokor and Biomed (?) are doing research with glutathione... Would love to hear from anyone who has had this done or conversely been told not to mess around with this. Glutathione is also available as a separate supplement. Thanks! Carol
