Guest guest
Hi Joyce, Great to " see " you again!!! It has been a long while... Thanks a lot for replying!!! Not that I am happy that others have the same problem, but... You know what I mean... It will be wonderful to have somebody else to discuss this with... I have problems with my lower back also and also higher up (between my shoulder blades), so it is not only the SI joints, but those are the ones which just makes things so difficult. But actually, when things slide between the shoulder blades, I am more or less totally unable to do anything. I can often see that two vertebrae seems to stick further out than the other ones. Either that or I get some weird swelling in the area. I also get nerves compressed then, affecting both arms. But luckily it doesn't happen too often. One thing that makes that happen, is if somebody hugs me too hard. Takes weeks go get it calmed down completely. That is a problem with the SI joints too, if it goes out, it goes out again much more easily. So after it happens, I have to be much more careful. So if it happens one time when I am trying to get some sleep e.g. in a hotel room, it often happens many times the same night. It is rare that it happens only one time when it first happens. So I am doing everything I can in order to prevent it from happening. I have tried to think of so many different options for handling it. E.g. getting a custom made adjustable headboard to take with me when I am travelling. But it is not easy to get such things really portable. Are you unable to lay down too? How do you sleep? How do you handle it in your every day life? Does it go out for sure if you try to lay down on any surface too? Or does it happen now and then? I was actually wondering that maybe if you have your SI joints fused, if you maybe would have to do something about the lower back at the same time. I was totally unable to find anything on Medline about just fusing the SI joints... I am getting really tired of it, because I really miss being able to get proper rest. I feel that you can't get that without laying down properly. Also I miss a lot to be able to sleep out of my own home without the hassle of the joint(s) going out all the time. When it goes out, I have to get it back then and there, there is no way I can sleep with it out. That is just not possible. I don't know if others can manage doing that, but for me I think the pain is so bad, it is just not possible. Maybe with a full anaesthesia, he-he... Thanks again!!!
