Guest guest
Alice, No I don't put my Auto Go in the trunk of my car but I could. But if I am by myself it is difficult as I don't have as much strength as I once did. If you don't disassemble it weighs 109 pounds. I did purchase the Auto Rack directly from Rascal. At the time I placed my order I had a coupon for 50% off the cost of the Auto Rack. I believe the Auto Rack was $500.00 but I only paid $250.00. I had the Class II trailer hitch installed by U-Haul since they have a lifetime warranty on the hitch and installation. The cost varies depending on the type of vehicle but I paid $110.00 to have it installed. I paid a total of $3,347.00 and that included the Auto Rack and shipping & handling. I don't know if they are still sending out coupons in their information packet or not but that is how I got the coupons. They had a expiration date but when I called to inquire the lady told me to just tell them I had the coupons and not say that they had expired. I also had a coupon for $300.00 off the Auto Go. I also received a free weather cover. There is a weight limit of 300 pounds. The only down side when I ordered was the delay in receiving the Auto Go. I placed the order on February 9, 2004 and didn't get the Auto Go until April 5, 2004 but they might not be so back logged now. Rascal does indicate that unless you are bed or chair confined AND unable to propel a manual wheelchair that Medicare WILL NOT reimburse. Some private insurance providers will cover it however. Let me know if you have any other questions. It has been a very worthwhile investment for me. It has allowed me to maintain my independence a little bit longer without giving up my current vehicle.
