Guest guest
Hi all, I've reached the point where I have a feeling that the pain and muscle cramping aren't going to ever be getting any better and would like to explore what sort of therapies there are out there that mitos use to help manage the symptoms. We are blessed with having pretty decent health insurance and I need to explore what they will pay for, AFTER I find out what other mito's experience has been with supportive modalities and I figure out what kind might help. Pain management? Physical therapy? Massage (do physical therapists do massage as part of their therapy?) Thanks for any experiences and guidance you might be able to offer. Guest guest
Anita The things that have really worked for me are Lamictal (anti-convulsant med) which I take all the time (helps with myoclonus and muscle pain) and Quinine (anit-malarial drug) for cramping which I only take when needed. Quinine is in many of the over the counter anti-cramping meds, but I don't want to be taking the other stuff in them. Stretching twice a day also helps as long as I am not in a crash. Using adaptive equipment instead of pushing the body makes a huge difference and helps prevent progression. Good luck finding something that helps. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Mon, 28 Jun 2004 13:20:30 -0000 > To: > Subject: physical therapy and mito? > > > Hi all, I've reached the point where I have a feeling that the pain > and muscle cramping aren't going to > ever be getting any better and would like to explore what sort of > therapies there are out there that > mitos use to help manage the symptoms.
