Guest guest
Hi All, Just thought I'd give a quick update on our lives since the first of the year. I had my surgery and it took quite a while to get over it. Dewayne has had a rough 5 months in that he obviously has sleep apnea and completely quits breathing at night and sometimes during the day. I'm trying to stay awake at night and wake him up when his breathing stops. (maybe that's why I'm still down too) The pain has become worse and the methadone is not doing much. Our neurologist has sent him for a sleep study, the first appt being the 9th of July. Dr. said that DW was being poisoned by the Carbon dioxide and that will lessen the effectiveness of the pain meds. Hopefully he is right about that. I have been keeping kinda up to date with everyone....lots of new folks around. Would like to welcome each and everyone, but I am still working and then trying to farm in my off time. DW did get his dentures this Spring and they look great. He is still getting used to them and has several sores in his gums.....not really where they are rubbing but just sores. Anyhow I just wanted to jump back in and say hi. You are all in our prayers each day. I really appreciate the conversation about the bipaps and c pap machines....guess I'll learn alot about those soon. Nicki, thanks for the informative message about the differences of the machines....it was helpful. Good night, Lynda (wife and caregiver to Dewayne or DW, a mito patient)

Guest guest
Lynda, So glad to have you back and posting again. I hope this is the first of many updates to come. You and DW and Spencer have remained in my thoughts and prayers. Hope the sleep study goes well and that DW gets some relief from his pain very soon. Hugs to you,
Guest guest
Do you think rubbing the sores with aloe vera would help? or taking an aloe supplement? A lot of times aloe works wonders for me personally. Of course, the usual disclaimer, make sure it doesnt counteract with other meds etc. I personally would do an internet search to make sure it doesnt counter anything, or have side effects that would be contraindicated in his case, as well as ask doc if there is any reason not to take it. Guest guest
Hi Lynda, Welcome back! I am sorry to hear of DW's continuing problems. It sounds like the apnea is really doing a number on him (and you). I hope that you both can find some answers from the sleep study, and he can get some relief, and you can get some sleep. My mom knows how that goes, she is always up with me and my apneas/alarms. She truly is an amazing and strong woman, and so are you! DW and I are blessed to have women like the two of you in our lives. Hopefully his doc is right about the apnea affecting the meds, and that his pain will be under better control once the apnea is treated successfully. Let me know if you have any more questions about the machines/masks, etc. I am thinking about the both of you! Keep Smiling, Nikki > Hi All, > Just thought I'd give a quick update on our lives since the first of the year. I had my surgery and it took quite a while to get over it.
