Guest guest
Hello my dear, Yes, you need to ask a nurse or your doctor these questions. The hardness you feel in your abdomen could be many things. It could be scar tissue, adhesions, tightness of your rectus abdominus muscles, gas in your bowel, swelling of the uterus from healing after surgery, inflammation of the abdominal cavity due to surgical interruption, or superficial scar tissue of the incision. All of these things could be possible, but it's most likely nothing to worry about. You asked when the numbness will disappear? That takes months. Many of the nerves are stretched during an abdominal surgery. Sometimes it can take six months for the sensation to return. Try not to worry about that. And if you see any discoloring near your incision, that is normal too. Many colors will appear the first few weeks after surgery for some people. Others see no discoloration at all. If you see redness, purpleness, and then yellowness, that is all normal. But it would be a good idea for you to make a call to your nurse at your doctor's office to ask these questions. It will give you peace of mind as well as knowing if you need to be seen by your doctor or not. Be sure to be assertive when you call explaining that you just had surgery and need to speak to the nurse. Sometimes those office staff folks can assume that you are fine and not take you seriously. I have had two abdominal surgeries and had the same symptoms you are describing. You have reason to be concerned, but try not to worry if you can.
