Guest guest
Llanda, My son new how to let me know he wanted to nurse with a particular sign (that he made up on his own) from around 5-6 months. I would bet that is her first sign. Babies are so smart esecially when it comes to their food! LOL Keep working with her, I am sure it will pay off! Good work. They come from a place of fullness and balance with all our relations. " Jeannine Parvati Baker Baby Sign or coincidence? I know some of you are already familiar with baby signs (and even use them) For those of you who are not I will very quickly explain, basically it is teaching your baby sign language, the have found that babies are able to communicate long before they can actually verbalize a word, and using simple gestures (Baby signs) can enable them to communicate with you before they can talk. I have read the book and have been working with since she was about 5 months old. Which is very early and really I was doing it more to get myself in the habit of using them than expecting her to learn them this early (babies typically start using them around 11 months) Anyway to the point, My sign for nursing has been tapping on my chest and every time we sit down to eat I ask her " you want to eat? " while using the sign. Well a few days ago, My friend Judi was holding her, and started gumming her shirt, Well since she is teething, Judi did not think much of it, she did it again and again Judi did not pay much attention to it, then started tapping her chest and Judi says to me I think she may be hungry, and told me what she did, now this was a good hour before she was " due " to eat again, but she had not nursed very well our previous session, but I gave it a try and sure enough she was hungry, now this time I just wrote it off as a coincidence, but last night we were at a party, so I was not paying close attention to the time I was holding and she starts patting my chest, and I looked at the clock and it was time for her to eat, and I sat down to feed her and she was hungry. SO what do you think, do you think it really is her first sign or is it just a coincidence? -Llanda Mommy to 4/4/2000 visit 's Web page at http://www.growthspurts.com/view.asp?s=20924 " I am in shape. Guest guest
My vote is that she has identified the sign with wanting to nurse. I would try adding another sign. She's almost 7 months, and considering when you started the initial sign, it is plausible that she is now using it. Amy Lynn mother to 1-25-98 and 2-10-00 Want great toys?
