I am specifically interested in the candida cleanse at this point as it is directly related with so many health issues (excess candida). ~Sandy// Hi Sandy, I don't know anything about cleanses, (I'm assuming you mean some enema- type procedure) but I once took something called Yeast Buster ( I think that was the name!) which I bought at a health food store on the recommendation of a homeopathic doctor and it really helped me tremendously. If I remember, it is a 30 day course of stuff you mix up in a blender and drink. However, if you have a candida problem, while Yeast Buster will help you, you will also need to follow up during and after that with a yeast-free diet. Have you ever seen a book called The Yeast Connection? Great book with lots of good information, I found it quite helpful. YOu should be able to get it at any library or used book store. Guest guest
Hi Ron, Thanks for the link. I am still having problems despite my sugar being well controlled so I was hoping a cleanse might help but maybe not. Sandy Re: Body cleanses >> Try http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/candida.html While diabetics can have an increase in candida infections, that should not be the case once your blood sugar is controlled. Guest guest
Hi Caroline - the cleansing I'm referring to is oral - (no enemas for me thanks ;o) I eat very little yeast products now that I'm diabetic and assumed with no sugar and low carbs I would be done with the yeast problems. I think I have that book actually somewhere in my miriad of books to read - lol. Will have to see if I can find it. I take probiotics daily and eat the low carb yogurt almost daily as well. Thanks for your help. ~Sandy Re: Body cleanses Hi Sandy, I don't know anything about cleanses, (I'm assuming you mean some enema- type procedure) but I once took something called Yeast Buster ( I think that was the name!) which I bought at a health food store on the recommendation of a homeopathic doctor and it really helped me tremendously. Guest guest
Sandy, I kept having yeast infections and my doc prescribed diflucan. I took it and the next day was so sick hubby had to call in to work to take care of the kids, I was so dizzy I couldn't raise my head off the pillow. Turns out I was having " die-off reaction " . When you have lots of fungus in your body and it dies off quickly it can really make you sick. Good thing about the diflucan, I didn't suffer from a yeast infection for YEARS after that. It can get systemic and in those cases a systemic medication is about the only thing to treat it. Since then I try to take probiotics to help encourage the " good stuff " in my gut to grow. The more good stuff the less bad stuff can have room. Other good treatments can be grapefruit seed extract -- but be sure to check for drug interactions! I'm not giving medical advice, just sharing what worked for me and Allie. People with autism often have metal poisoning and for some reason the mercury causes yeast to grow. There's no way to 100% rid yourself, to my knowledge, but being proactive can keep it in check. HTh, Debi
