Guest guest
Tonia, Here in NY, everything <except pain management> is covered but the catch is trying to find doctors, dentists and eye doctors and such who take Medicaid. They have a list that I got but of course they never update it to take off the doctors who no longer accept it and I called every one on those 4 pages and it was all zippo on any of them taking Medicaid. Now on prescriptions, depending on what it is, there is a co-pay BUT if you don't have the co-pay, the pharmacist HAS to accept that and you still get your Rx even if you can't pay the co-pay..it's some kind of new-ish law about that. Now as far as hospitals and such go, I had an MRI a few months back and the bill was almost $700 and NYS only paid the hospital $15!! Then the hospital billed me for the balance which is illegal here and I sure let them know about it. That's why pain management clinics and such refuse to accept Medicaid, because NYS doesn't pay anything and it's a pretty steep loss. NYS is one of THE most expensive states to live in and Medicaid can't pay the bills..go figure...guess all the tax money and funding totally goes to all the politicians ,,and as far as another state accepting NY's Medicaid..LOL!!! What a laugh!! That'll never happen..they're too damn cheap when it comes time to pay the bill. They do have a thing here through MVP and GHI where you can enroll in one of those 2 HMO's and not have to worry about pain management and I'm not eligible because I only got Medicaid because of my lawsuit and anything that's directly related to my lawsuit that I see doctors for I have to reimburse them for it when my settlement comes through. Now I've e-mailed Dawn back channel about her doctor that she sees which isn't too far from where I live (maybe an hour) and she's going to send me his name and number again (I keep losing it) and I'm going to call him tomorrow and see what I can do along with calling my lawyer..and I'm going to tell him that now I've resorted to busting in on other people's lives trying to find a doctor who will see me. I too wish that we actually had nationwide medical care like they do over in Europe or England or wherever it is..it would be a lot easier..
