Guest guest
For someone taking Co Q 10, what should blood level be? started Q Gel about 6 months ago,she takes 450mg. When she was on Twin labs she took 1200 mg daily,so this should equal to about the same amount. I'm asking about levels because I just got a copy of her last blood work and her level is 2.36.I thought this was pretty good since the one before, Sept 03, was only 1.45.BUT I got to looking back at the other results I have and in Aug 02 it was 9.07.These are the only ones I have, before these we always went to Louisville for doc and testing. I called doc's office today and ask them to go back over the past test to see how level was running before. I would like to have an idea of what level some of the rest of you run. also the amount of QGel you take. We see doctor next Tuesday. Right now her doc is wondering about her protein, albumin and total protein are both running low.She is not lossing protein in urine and her liver function is okay. He's spoken to a couple of other docs and they think maybe it's her gut. has several very loss stools each day,so I guess they're thinking it's a mal absorption issue. has slept a lot for a looooong time,up to 20 hrs a day,but for the last, I don't even know how long, several months she doesn't want to do ANYTHING even if she is awake. All she does is lay, even in the recliner she is still mostly laying.Really she wouldn't get up at all if we didn't make her. She's perfectly happy in the bed.She very seldon wants a movie or her cd player, she won't talk when you try talking to her.SHE JUST LAYS.It drives me nuts,I feel guilty because I think I need to be doing SOMETHING with her.I just can't think of anything to do !!!! I would appreciate any help I can get on the Co Q 10 questions. Thanks to All ,Mom to By the way weights around 205.

My level right now is up to 1.78 on 1200 mg of Q gel and my mito doctor still wants it up higher. For the amount of CoQ10 that I am on, this is still really low. I have the print out from my CoQ10 results from Cincinatti Children's and it says " It is useful to monitor CoQ10 concentrations in patients requiring supplementation for at least 3 reasons 1) over the counter products vary widely in their bioavailability, so levels should be measured to assure the patient is taking a reliable product 2) to assure therepeutic effect it has been suggested that dosage be adjusted according to the total plasma Q10 level, ie: total levels above 4 ug/ml are often recommended and 3) to assess patient medication compliance " Also, for anyone who's doctor doesn't test CoQ10 levels, if your doctor wants them checked they can be drawn at your local hospital and sent to Cincinatti Children's. We do that at my local hospital and it works really well. It does help to have a description of how they are supposed to draw it though. For that info, your doctor can call: at Cinci. Children's. Guest guest
I have no idea of blood level for CoQ10. I think mine was only checked once before I started it, but maybe more. I can tell when I am taking enough by symptoms. Brain fog is visiting. I can tell you that I take 960 mg. of Q-gel, but I weigh more. Please let us know how she is doing. Have they checked her electrolytes, including magnesium. If they are off, it could be putting extra stress on her. You are a great mom and are doing what she needs. Hang in there.
