Guest guest
Anita, Welcome to the group. I haven't made a formal welcome until now because I've not been well but I just read your question about MD. There are 40 diseases that are listed under the " umbrella " of Muscular Dystropy and supported by the MDA. Mitochondrial Disease is one of them but it is the neuromuscular aspect of the disease that is their focus. So you can count yourself as one of " Jerry's Kids " if you have a Mito diagnosis. The UMDF is a different organization entirely and only deals with Mitochondrial Disorder and the many diseases that are named under Mito. Alice . I've still very confused about the relationship between the " label " mitochondrial diseases and Muscular Dystrophy. Am I correct that MD is only one of many types of mito diseases? I read the list and description of the disease covered under the " umbrella " of the umdf (even though a lot of the terms I don't understand) and it seems like they cover a very wide range of symptomatology. Guest guest
Hi Alice, Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my question. It helped me understand this all a bit better. I'm guessing from your reply that a MDA clinic is not the place for me to be looking for a doc. Hoping you have a good-er day tomorrow.
