I'm trying to figure out how worried I should be about this newest

symptom. I suddenly developed some bruises on palms and fingers of

my hands (I don't think I did anything to bring them on). Strange

thing is that over the course of about 20 minutes - some of the

bruises almost all but faded, while new ones appeared.

I'm wondering what could cause this. Any ideas?

I would certainly consult a doctor on this, but it might be due to

dysautonomia.

thank you. I'll check out that possibility (I had no clue and I

thought it was a little freaky). Of course it's the weekend. But I

did find that soaking my hands in warm water made the bruises go

away.

That makes it sound even more like dysautonomia. 's daughters hands

will turn completely blue and stay that way unless she puts them in warm

water, but they return to blue. For her, it can last several days and then

back to normal.

Do ask a doc though.

Yes, that is the first firm dysautonomia confirmation we got with our

daughter. Her hands turning blue were the opposite of Raynauds syndrome.

Could this be Raynauld's? That's pretty common with Mito. I'd check this out

with the doctor. Here are a couple of links.

Did the blue that your daughter's hands turned look like bruising --

or was it more evenly distributed? There were places on the tips of

my fingers which looked like someone drew on me with a blue marker.

Then one of my fingers looked like it was slammed in a door and was

discolored a red/bluish bruise. Is this the look of disautonomia?

What type of doctor did she see to treat this?

Maggie,

It was not even but almost mottled at times as some parts were almost

black. Her ears, sometimes only one, will get bright bright red at

times too like someone that has been out in the cold too long, but it

happens to her inside. At the same time her ears get red, her face can

be deathly white. It is quite strange looking at times. We took her to

a rhumatologist, but I believe others can dx too. When her neuro saw

the while face and red ear, he also confirmed the dyautonomia. He said

there was no doubt in his mind. I hope this helps some. Let us know

what you find out from your docs.

My son has the same thing as 's daughter - red ears and white face.

His is often in response to pain.

Alice,

I just sent the mail using another e-mail address that I have. No biggy .

Thanks for sending the site. I will forward it on to my daughter. She is

an environmental biologist, who lives near Boston. She is out in the ice

and cold all winter...hard on her Raynauld's. She, also, has exercise

intolerance. My son, also, shows signs of Mito. I'm going to see Dr. Enns,

at Stanford...just waiting for a call from his office to set up the

appointment. I need a firm diagnosis. (I do have mega-mitochondria with

extensive crystilline inclusions). My daughter is turning 30 this summer

and is intending to have a baby this next year. If anything goes wrong, I

want the doctors to know what I have and what to look for to help the baby.

I'll be praying that nothing will be wrong with the baby. But, that's what

Grandma's do...worry and pray for their little ones.

Blessings,
