Hi JoAnn, Now I am not sure about this but I think that the deal with obtaining SSD requires you to be out of work or expected to be out of work (Per doctors orders) for at least a year. To go on SSD you must be declared totally disabled and unable to work at all, then after you have been on it you can try going back to work but hours or how much you make are restricted. Like I said I am not real sure about this but it seems to me that is how it is. Maybe someone else out there knows for sure. Hope this helps a little.
