Guest guest
I was having pain in my upper left arm for the longest time....just kind of blew it off to my all over aches, until finally the pain was just to much. I mentioned it to my primary care dr. and a flat film x- ray revealed a dark shadow on the upper third of my humerus. I had a subsequent bone scan which " lit up " in that same area. I had a bone biopsy done just because it looked suspicious and because of all the other illnesses I have. Thankfully, the biopsy showed it to be benign but I have an 8 1/2 cm necrotic lesion...dead bone. " They " think it's from my antiphospholipid syndrome, steroid use, and SLE. They say they can do a surgery to fill the necrotic spot with a cement like substance because now that arm could break easily. I opted not to have any surgery. I will just treat the pain as it comes and we are keeping an eye on it to be sure it doesn't spread. It was actually a relief to hear that lupies sometimes get these necrotic areas. Once again, I find that I am not alone. Thanks for all the necrotic info.Hugs to all, Pam
