Guest guest
Vivian, I have 13 electrodes active on my left side. Two of those are outside of the cochlea. I have exceptional power with my 3G. I think the success of the BTE depends on the audiologist who is mapping it. In your case, your center should have a loaner and let you try it to see if you notice a difference. At first, it will probably sound different but I have a feeling that you will love it. It's a big expense so I know you will want to weigh this carefully. Don't give up on the bilateral idea. That would really boost your hearing. Graham? Ok.. explain that one. Does he have a CI? If he does.. I wasn't aware of it. I keep saying " new beginnings " and that is how I'm looking at Easter Monday. Alice
Guest guest
Dear Alice, Well I am switching who does my mapping and going to Atlanta have not made the trip yet and will ask them about the 3G then. Yes, Bill Graham finally decided to get implanted back about 5or6 years ago. His wife was expecting a baby which was one of the reasons he decided to get implanted. We were both doing a mini panel on CI's in the DC/metro area and he had been implanted at that point about 2 months. It was interesting to note that while speaking in the past he used to sign at the same time. He no longer signed. I won't be getting my wire till Tuesday...no sound is just the pits. Amazing how spoiled we become isn't it? I don't know how you are going through all this again you must have the patience of a saint!
