I think it is a lot easier for the shot administer to have the baby lying

down. I have been through this same feeling, but I quickly learned that the

way to give the shot is to do it so that it is over the fastest so that I

can pick the baby right up. I usually have been able to hold my baby's arms

and look at his/her face so that I never lose contact with my child. I also

talked to him/her (got both, sorry).

Afterward I would nurse #1, but with #2 I hold her, put her in the sling,

etc. (She isn't a comfort nurser, and they always arrive to do shots right

after she has eaten).

Something else that helps--asks for more than one person to do shots if

there is more than one to give. Our current clinic will rebook us if they

can't do this, and I swear that it takes less time and is much easier on the

baby to get the shots done faster by having two nurses giving them when they

get 2, 3, 4, at a time.
