Port or G-tube?

Hi all! I haven't been posting much, just because I am in a little

crash, nothing big right now. I did end up in the ER on Saturday night

due to a severe migraine that seemed like it was turning into a SLE. I

wanted to stop it before it happened. The doctor wasn't very helpful,

but he was also helping my dad who also went in, due to chest pains. My

dad is doing well right now, but my mom got a workout going between our

rooms! We were both released early Sunday morning (3 and 5:00).

I was severely dehydrated when I went in and they gave me 2 1/2 bags of

IV fluid in the 3-4 hours I was there. That was the only thing the did

that helped at all. I saw my PCP yesterday and mentioned that. He told

me to try harder to drink, but after discussing things, he did bring up a

G-tube again. He doesn't want to do a port or G-tube, as I am to " young "

and don't need the hassle right now. But, he will go along with the GI

doctor that I see on Wednesday. My question is, if I have to have

something, which would be better, a port or a G-tube? This would mainly

be for fluids. My PCP doesn't want the port because it takes a long time

for a bag of fluid, but I do better if it goes in slower. I don't know

much about either one. Have any of you had this experience? If so, feel

free to e-mail me back on the list, or privately at kckoch76@....

Thanks and smiles,
