I just love Miss Manners -- she is always polite and appropriate but NEVER gets pushed around! She would be a great mentor for our group. (Wonder if she's ever had fibroids? Now how could I diplomatically ask her that? Guest guest
Hello folks, just an update. I got a response from my IR on this polite question about his certification. He said he has been certified since 1990 and that my information was wrong. He also has other certifications on top of it!!! . By the way, I got my information from www.healthgrades.com so don't use this site to check up on your docs. /There data base is screwed up. I hope my doc wasn't pissed off at me and when he wrote me back, I felt like a jerk for questioning him. Miss Manners, got any suggestions? Anyway, it worked, I got my answeres and I'm not stopping to look back anymore. Jen

Jen Um, did he indicate a board certification in Diagnostic Radiology AND/OR Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Were you also able to confirm this by checking the ABMS website? The healthgrades.com site is an independent site....but the ABMS is the certifying body and should be the definitive answer. Sorry for being such a stickler on this issue....but there have been a few IRs in the past who have been known for quoting high numbers of prior " procedures " which were, in fact, primarily NOT UFE procedures at all! Further, these are two, very different, board certifications. An IR performing UFE should be board certified in Vascular and Interventional Radiology in addition to board certification in Radiology. No doc should be pissed off by this question...and if they are...then YOU have to question " why? " Never feel like a jerk for doing due diligence on checking out your docs. NEVER! After all, it's YOUR body and you are the one who will pay the consequences of sub-standard care -- not the doc. Carla Dionne
