Well...........I'm unable to find my exact anesthesiology " combo " from my

myomectomy.

However, I can provide you with the anesthesia information that I submitted

to that doctor in my pre-op interview last year, based on my previous

anesthesiology " trials and errors. " This information helped the anesthesiologist

formulate a successful anesthesia plan for my 2003 surgery.

Needless to say, just because this general anesthesia plan (detailed below)

worked beautifully for ME, it is certainly no guarantee of success for anyone

else.

However, for what it's worth......for me, this resulted in a very pleasant,

gentle, post-surgical wake-up, no nausea or vomiting. No weird disorientation.

Yes, I felt drowsy, but pleasantly so--and I felt quite serene. I also

remember being enveloped in this freshly-warmed (in the dryer) blanket in the

cold

recovery room ......Mmmmmmmmmm!!!!

Here are the highlights:

1.Since I have had a severe adverse reaction to both Reglan & Compazine (VERY

COMMON anti-nausea meds which can cause agitation and Parkinsonianism in

certain individuals). The anesthesiologist elected to avoid ALL NARCOTICS in the

pre-med, and instead gave me Toradol (60 mg.) with Zantac (50 mg.).

2. NO DROPERIDOL for me (which can cause dysphoria).

3. For the intraoperative anesthetic, I was given Propofol and small amounts

of Fentanyl.

4. He avoided administering any inhalational agents. [You might say...of

those drugs..... " I didn't inhale. " :-) ]

5. At the end of the procedure, my muscle relaxant was reversed with

Neostigmine and Robinul.

So there you have it, --the Cliff's Notes for Roma's anesthesia.

Hope this helps.....perhaps calms you down .......It should......Heck, my

eyes are getting very heavy. . . . and I'm getting drowsy. . . just remembering

it!!!!........ :-)

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,

Resting Roma
