Guest guest Posted March 20, 2004 Report Share Posted March 20, 2004 Wow..You've had quite a year. Did you go on any other trips with your ministry? You've always amazed me doing that. Not only did my last implant fail but the first one was done wrong and many of the electrodes are outside of a hole in the cochlea which no one knows how could have happened. It was when the right side failed that I started using the left again and began to have some medical issues. After repeated CT Scans - it was found. The array is in the petrous apex area and laying 2 cm from my cartoid artery. It should be shut off completely if the new right one works ok. Just have to pray that it does. FYI.. the problems I had on the left side were continually blamed on "my disease" and I know some physicians who are now eating "crow." Stella is a wonderful dog. She's 9 now and not as active as a hearing dog as she should be. They would take her back and give me a new dog if I wanted them to but how do you do that when you have fallen in love with the dog? If I come out of this surgery and I am totally deaf.. I may have to do that. You can't have a service dog in the house with another animal because it's too distracting. Stella would go to a regular home to live out the remaining years of her life. I do have concerns about getting a younger dog because they are so active and I am not sure I could keep up with one.
