Guest guest
Everyone, please check this out from then home page of Tishcon’s website, www.tishcon.com, Tishcon obtains Orphan Drug Designation for Coenzyme Q10 from the US FDA. The designation is for the use of CoQ10 in the treatment of Mitochondrial Cytopathies. This could be a happy day! I know many of us will be contacting our pharmacies very soon! Cindy, mom to 2 boys, Seth, 12, and Ben, 7 (We use 2000 mg of CO Q 10 daily in our house!)
Guest guest
Does anyone know how this will affect our ability to try & get the COQ10 covered by insurance? I take 1200mg a day & any coverage would be really helpful. I should say that I noticed a reasonable increase in ability when I went from 600 to 1200mg, I'd like to go higher, but can't afford to TIA, hopefully this is good news for us.... Guest guest
I am sorry to tell you that Tishcon only has stage I or II status, not full orphan drug status yet. They are working on it, but it is VERY expensive to do the large trials needed to get final approval status, but they are trying. This is from the FDA website: Ubiquinone                                DD: 12/14/1999 Treatment of mitochondrial cytopathies.         Gel-Tec, Division of Tishcon Corp. Ubi-Q-Gel                                                                                                                30 New York Ave.                                                 MA:                                                                       PO Box 331                                                                                                                              Westbury NY 11590 It was designated 12/14/99, but hasn't made final approval yet. chris1gill@... wrote: Does anyone know how this will affect our ability to try & get the COQ10 covered by insurance?
