Non-surgical fibroid options

Hello there!

I've been a member for some time, but have not had a great deal of

opportunity in the last 6 months or so to review the site. I also

apologize in advance if this particular subject has been discussed

before.

I'm trying to find out if anyone has had success shrinking a very

large fibroid with any of the drugs, such as Synarel, Mifepristone,

etc before surgery, in addition to other treatments, such as,cryo-

surgery, etc. At present, I DO NOT have health insurance, so even

though the drs are suggesting hysterectomy, it's not really an option

(for several reasons). My goal is to shrink it enough to have a less

invasive surgery at least initially.......hopefully a laparoscopy.

I'm also interested to hear if anyone on here had endometrial

ablation, to help with the bleeding.

I would really like details........good and bad, as well as, the

healing times and side effects that you may have had.

As silly as this may seem, I have actually had success in " shrinking "

the fibroid with castor oil packs, but it's something that you have

to keep doing and does take time a nd patience. I am also on

Micronor (synthetic progesterone) to help control the

bleeding.......which works sometimes :)

Thanks in advance,

Debbie

Hello, how big is your fibroid? My IR said 17 cm is the limit for a

UFE. Also, endometrian ablaation won't really work if you have a

fibroid. I recommend reading the posts to learn, also join the

other fibroid group (Uterine fibroid Embolization) to learn

everything about this procedure. It is the least invasive with very

good results. Hope this helps, Jen
