A different urinary problem and diagnosis--post Myo

I too have not read much on the subject of urinary problems and fibroids/surgery

here. I have a different situation that I thought I would share with you all,

in case it may be useful for someone else.

I had my abdominal myo on October 2. Since then, I've had a few urinary tract

infections. I've also had pain/pressure when having to urinate and after

emptying my bladder, even when I do not have an infection present. I finally

got to see a urologist. He said that when they move the bladder to access the

uterus during surgery, the nerves are disrupted. It seems my nerves are not

sending the right signals to my bladder. The sphincter of my bladder is not

relaxing when I urinate as it should, casuing discomfort. After urinating, the

sphincter does not close properly and some contaminated urine leaks back into my

bladder, causing the infections. He says this problem should resolve itself

within a few months, hopefully. If not, we will do more tests. I am convinced

this problem is related to my myo because I never even had a UTI before this

surgery! He also gave me some tips in the meantime--go to the bathroom on a

schedule whether I feel like I have to go or not to avoid

discomfort (including getting up at night at least once), drink plenty of

water, drink cranberry juice or take cranberry supplements. I hope I explained

this clearly, it makes sense since so much is disturbed during surgery.

Has anyone else experieced similar problems post-myo?

B. (there are more than one of us, so I'll start using my last initial;

funny, I rarely see anyone who spells it the same way!)
