Guest guest
Thanks for bringing this subject up. I've found very little on it, anywhere. What first took me to the doc four years ago, was that I would wake up at 2 AM or so with a full bladder and be unable to go even one tiny drop. What I found at that time was that if I got up and puttered around the house a while, things seemed to shift a bit, and after about a half hour I could pee just fine. But it wreaked havoc on my night's sleep! AFter a variety of tests, the docs decided it was probably pressure from fibroids causing the problem, and said, " well, you could have a hysterectomy if you want. " By that time, I had discovered I could manage my problem by turning over in bed to the opposite side of however I had been sleeping. If I reclined on this opposite side for about a half hour, then I could pee just fine. After several months of having the problem every single night, it suddenly went away. Now it happens every once in while. But my fibroids are bigger than ever! (20 week size uterus) And I have other urinary-related problems--can't get to the bathroom in time, leaking when I cough, frequent UTIs. My gyn recommends hysterectomy. However, I have an appointment in a few weeks at UCSFs Fibroid Center, and we'll see what they recommend.
