Don't get all anxious as the CA-125 has a very strong

history of both false positives and false negatives

because many things can effect it other than ovarian

cancer. Many doctors are often reluctant to even give

that blood test. Let us know how it all turns out.

I have fibroids AND ovarian cysts and God only knows

what else is going on in this Mama's belly.

I have both fibroids and a MEGA ovarian cyst (14 cm across, X 11 cm X

11 cm) - the cyst is about the size of a six-month fetus - takes up

almost all the space in my lower abdomen - it's crowding my kidneys,

colon, bladder, (enlarged) uterus etc. I will be seeing a OB/GYN

about surgery on the 27th - anticipate that I will have surgery in

early February. So far, they want to do a full hysterectomy. I

don't know if they're even considering doing it laparoscopically,

because they are afraid of draining the cyst while it's still in the

abdominal cavity (which is what would happen if the cyst were to

burst, so I don't see that as such a major risk). Anyway, odds are

pretty high that my cyst is benign, since I do have a history of

benign ovarian cysts. I'm far more worried about the recovery time

from a full non-laparoscopic hysterectomy than I am about ovarian

cancer or even about losing my uterus and ovaries. The fibroids are

the very least of my worries, at this point...
