I send these messages about once a month either directly in response to a post,

or indirectly just because I feel compelled to advertise the procedure. In this

case I just want to add my experience to that of Carla and Roma, relative to

UAE.

I had horrible bladder problems for years but didn't find out about my fibroids

until I was about 46 years old. I tried diet and exercise which didn't really

have any effect (well perhaps it slowed the growth somewhat since the size of

the largest 'broid didn't change much over the two years.) However the symptoms

started to get unbearable until I had no choice but to take some action. Thank

heavens I found this group, and the embo group, and had the info I needed to get

a consultation which led to my eventual decision to have the UAE.

That was 7 months ago and I also experienced pretty much instant relief from my

bulk symptoms. The first time I got up to urinate after the UAE (about 1.5

hours after I left the OR) I could tell that things were different (better.) It

sounds pathetic to say just how wonderful it felt to be able to urinate with no

impediment but that's exactly how it felt.

Other things happened post-op, including my discovery that sex felt a whole lot

more comfortable. I didn't even realize that the fibroid had been contributing

that much discomfort (it never stopped us but it didn't exactly improve the

experience. frankly I just thought my husband was too big for me.) Then over

the following few weeks my bladder capacity increased to the point where (drum

roll please) I actually sleep through the night most nights.

So, I hope this story helps some of you who are thinking about this as an

alternative and perhaps benefit by hearing from one of us who did it and are

pretty happy with the outcome.
