Re: chose not to have helmet and happy about it

My husband and I waited longer than most of our friends to start our

family, so most of my friends' kids are in the 3-12 age range.

Since got her Doc band, I cannot even tell you how many of

them have told me they wished they had known about the option for

plagio treatments for their kids - all of the ones I've talked to

who asked their pediatricians about it were told their kids would

grow out of it but haven't. For many of the kids it's not

immediately obvious (given the bushy hairstyles that are popular

right now) but you shouldn't have to hide behind a hairstyle your

whole life (what happens when buzzcuts are back " in " for the

boys?). I feel lucky to have the option to treat; I'm glad I asked

my pediatrician to send us for a second opinion since he didn't

really see anything wrong.

I just wish pediatricians were better trained to spot the problem

themselves so the parents have the option to do something before

it's too late.
