Guest guest
I'm new to this group and in the first day of looking through posts, it's comforting to know that my issues are not " all in my head " . I first found out I had fibroids in Oct. 2002. They found one on top of the uterus at 2.6cm. My Gyn said there was nothing to be concerned about. During the next several months, I had trouble with tiredness, bowel issues, lower abdominal pressure, and gas. Between Dec. 2002 and Apr. 2003 I had a colonoscopy, upper GI and small bowel series, laparoscopy, CT scan and several blood tests. Everything came back normal - the laparoscopy did show the fibroid as well as another smaller one. When I asked my Gyn if the fibroid could be causing my fatigue and bowel issues, she told me that it couldn't and that there was probably something else wrong. She said that she had fibroids too and they were no problem. Since the laparoscopy was done to check that there was no ovarian cancer, nothing was said or done about the fibroids. At my last visit to my Gyn, she said I was at 8 weeks and would have to wait until I was at the size of a 12 week pregnancy before they would do anything. My regular doctor kept trying to push different drugs including anti- depressants. He kept asking if I was depressed and didn't believe me when I said I wasn't. Since that time, I have just been waiting. The last couple of days I have a lot of discomfort in my lower abdominal area. Now I'm debating whether or not I should go back to my Gyn or try a doctor that I found in the area that has done work with uterine fibroid tumors. From what I've read, it sounds like it is time to explore my options for having these removed. I'm 44 and have no plans to have any more children. Thanks for the support of this group.
