Guest guest
What is moxibustion? Robin wrote: I just started acupuncture and moxibustion treatments a couple of weeks ago. As time goes on, I will keep you posted as to whether this form of treatment is effective.
Guest guest
Hi. I've been seeing an acupuncturist for several years for a variety of reasons including fibroids and the treatment seems to have helped. I have moderately severe symptoms - heavy bleeding and clotting during my period, unpredictable cycle, abdominal pain and distension. My acupuncturist is also an herbalist and I don't pretend to know what's in the awful-tasting tea she gives me, but I've found that as long as I have gone for treatment regularly (about every 2 months or so) and taken the herbs, my symptoms have stayed about the same. In fact, after my last sonogram (last February) I was told that there had been a bit of shrinkage. I don't think acupuncture will " cure " me, but it's been very helpful in managing the situation while I figure out how to proceed from here. Hope this is of some help. -- > has anyone tried acupunture for fibroids?
Guest guest
He told me it is good for RSD and if it didn't help that it would definetly help the fibro and arthritis. My SIL's brother has trimenginial nerve problems in his face, and he's found acupucture to be helpful. Reckon it depends on each individual's situation. Guest guest
I had it done about 6 years ago for hot flashes. It did nothing to help my problem. I was not diabetic. Barb
Guest guest
Mike and Barb, Thanks for the response. It's disheartening it didn't help either of you. I am not going because I want it to help my blood sugars, just wondering if it may affect them one way or the other. I'm going on month number 5 of being sick and conventional doctors haven't been able to do anything or figure out what's wrong. I'm hoping an alternate perspective may help. So, it's discouraging that neither of you benefited from treatments
Guest guest
Not all acupuncture is the same, people who do it are like doctors (and everyone else), some of them are better than others. I had a doctor of Oriental medicine fix carpal tunnel syndrome in my hand in four acupuncture sessions and it has never come back. It was so painful that I couldn't drink from a coffee cup with that hand, and the pain was moving up to my shoulder. That was about 7 or 8 years ago. I had another one tell me it doesn't work for weight loss. And they specialize. She does pain relief and stress relief very well and refers people to others for other kinds of medical problems. I don't know if they think that it could affect insulin resistance. We have a school in Albuquerque, so there are a lot of DOMs here. Jan Re: Acupuncture > Mike and Barb, > Thanks for the response. Guest guest
That's not an uncommon experience. A professional and experienced acupuncturist will always tell you that there are no guarantees and for some it works and for others it doesn't. Take care. Barry UK Re: Acupuncture > Yes and no. > I've tried acupuncture for several different issues in the past (pain management, quit smoking & weight loss). For me, it didn't work for any of these issues. And I really hoped it would... that's why I gave it 3 chances! I didn't go in as a skeptic. Mike
