Guest guest
One more thing I need to point out, and would appreciate any comments...don't be bashful--YOU might have a clue for me!! ) I have always had two major problems, healthwise, my entire adult life. 1)hypothyroid 2)EXTREME, DEBILITATING fatigue, achiness, and feeling hot when I START my periods, and it takes more than a week to return to normal as far as the achiness and fatigue. (This is totally opposite many women who get it before they start--it goes AWAY when they start.) 1) The hypothyroid was " solved " when I switched to Armour--I regained all sorts of positives and renewed ENERGY---and it STOPPPED the HORRIBLE ADRENAL reactions I would get with exercise or activity- -pounding heart, sweating, insomnia, and profound fatigue. Stopped. 2) Though Armour did all the above, it didn't TOUCH the fatigue and achiness I get with EVERY period. So....I see that as a separate issue. Now, I am suddenly having the profound fatigue and achiness NOT go away after my last period of Dec. 2nd...I never recovered from it. I feel the slight achiness ALL the time now. It's not like low Ferritin. And, I crash when I come home from work. SOMETHING, which has been wrong in me EVERY single time I have had a period for 25+ years, is now so bad that it's not going away!! So.........I cannot feel for certain that this is " adrenal fatigue " unless I have somehow had " adrenal fatigue " show itself ONLY when I started my periods for 25 years!! Instead, what I am going through right now is the SAME thing, but this time, I have NOT recovered. Whatever has been happening to me for more than 25 years when I start a period, is happening........but not going away. Whatever causes the extreme fatigue and achiness with every period........stuck with me this time. Ideas??? Stabs in the dark?? Anything? Janie > I am open to what you are saying, believe me. Guest guest
My thoughts on this is that your Estrogen is peaking when this starts, blocking thyroid hormone and thus leaving you hypo till the estrogen fades again, which is obviously not fading this time. You may need more Progesterone to balance out the estrogen or more Armour or BOTH. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
Janie, my thinking is that this could be a form of adrenal fatigue. I have had a similar problem for a long time, my fatigue and achiness and hot joints start a day or two before my period and last for the firt 2-3 days. Last cycle I did the Great Smokies adrenal profile on my worst days, and the levels were lower than other times I have taken the test. My estrogen levels are not real high, and I get warm flashing starting this week also, so I don't think I have estrogen dominance. In the book he talks about a case history where the woman had LOW cortisol levels due to adrenal fatigue that resulted in rheumatoid arthritic pain. He explains that " low cortisol levels resulted in too little anti-inflammatory activity in Elaine's joint and she experienced a mild form or rheumatoid arthritis. " This really made sense to me! I had never been able to grab the understanding of exactly what too little cortisol could do until I read this. Another thing, do you experience any other signs of possible infection or inflammation at this time, for me I have recurrent sinus an ear pain. says any respiratory problem can be a real drain on the adrenals. Have you had your estrogen dominance confirmed by blood or saliva testing? Because of my experiences with progesterone, I think it is tricky to just treat for presumed estrogen dominance. The book is really good at describing adrenal fatigue and offers many more suggestions on how to treat it other than hydrocortisone. So far I am having very good success with his program, but the proof will be if my premenstrual and menstrual time is improved. Guest guest
Before my hyst way back there, mine didn't go away until well into the second half of my period. I know that I was harboring tons of water all during that time, until about the 5th day, when it started going away. What I didn't know until about 3 or 4 yrs later was that I was now making NO progesterone, and I suppose that just gets less and less as time goes on. We know now that easing the menses isn't the only thing that progesterone does. I went without it, in ignorance, all those yrs, until recently. I've been on the cream for several months now, and it has helped my sleep pattern and mood. What else it has helped, I can't say for sure, but I could also now be estrogen deficient, as that is gradually going to disappear somewhat, but not as much as the progesterone. Even a little estrogen goes a long way, when there's nothing to match it, i.e., progesterone. One more thing---comments welcome!! MY MYSTERY > > > One more thing I need to point out, and would appreciate any > comments...don't be bashful--YOU might have a clue for me!! ) > > I have always had two major problems, healthwise, my entire adult > life. 1)hypothyroid 2)EXTREME, DEBILITATING fatigue, achiness, and > feeling hot when I START my periods, and it takes more than a week > to return to normal as far as the achiness and fatigue.
