Guest guest
That's alright Janie, I am having problems right now too. I DO think it is the Winter weather and I am playing with my dosages again. I got home from work and fell asleep in front of the TV slept THREE hours, and now here I sit wide awake. I have to work tomorrow.. UGH. I dropped my dosage as I was getting a little tremor in my hands.. can;t have that scissoring dogs, now I am hypo again. How the heck can I be hypo on 6 grains of Armour (well 2 Armour and 4 generic) & and 50 mcg Cytomel? In this next week I am ordering some labs. I am having a Ferritin test even though this new doc I am to see in Feb. said nothing about that, as I am going through Healthcheck anyway, I might as well get that too. This sucks. I am still having some hypo things going away, but the tired is returning and some aches. It has en quite cold here this week, and I am freezing. NEVER had that symptom before! I sit at this computer with a heavy floor length chenille robe on with the portable electric heater going and I am shivering. GGGGRRRRR Could also be holiday stresses too I suppose. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
- I found this list because someone told me about it. I'd like to pass on the favor by telling you and others on this wonderful list that there are some truly superb articles on the Autism_Iron yahoo list, which may help explain some of the issues you raised in your post, below. I asked for permission to forward at least one of the articles but you may not want to wait. Message #3490 might interest you. So far, I know only what I've learned from these lists about thyroid but you're likely to understand much more than I do... Anyway HTH, ( " pays to listen to a fool, 'cause she might tell you something she heard a wiseperson say " - fits here ;-) Re: My CURRENT HORMONAL EXPERIENCE is interesting... Guest guest
Janie, just a couple of thoughts-- Have you had your hormone levels checked? You have talked on and off about estrogen dominance, sore breasts and upping your progesterone. I seem to remember you also saying you take DHEA. DHEA gets converted into estrogen. On the Mercola web site, he strongly recommends balancing your adrenals before using progesterone. Also, in Blanchard's book on thyroid he says he finds most of his patients here in the Boston area need about 20% more thyroid in the winter months starting in November than they do the rest of the year. Don't know if that would be true where you are. R. > > I am on an optimal dose of Armour.......and I am very peri-meno. Guest guest
Janie What does the word " crash " mean, in your case? Do you feel sort of ill, brain foggy, sluggish, or is it just a normal tired after doing so much work? I've felt better lately, but still have my times, and I know I'm not optimal yet on my Armour, but I'm slowly moving up there, very slowly. I KNOW that I have adrenal issues, but can't prove them, since I haven't tested, and I really have to be very careful during these periods of high energy, as I will pull out all stops, when I'm working at work OR at home. I used to be a " clean freak " at home, and I've noticed that I've started doing all this intricate work in cleaning at home lately. It's like I cannot stop once I start it, since I enjoy making things " sparkle " , when I'm feeling good. It has been 5 yrs or so, since I felt really good, so here I go again. It's almost like a compulsion. I'm tireder this week because of things I've been doing around here for the last 3 wks, plus we had state inspectors on our nursing floor all last wk, so it's a triple whammy for me. As long as I lay down and sleep for 8 or 9 hrs, I'm ok, but it's when I catch only 4 or 5, then get up and start right in with stuff, that that flu-like feeling kicks in for a long stretch. I've noticed something about MOST of our members on these sites (including me). We all seem to have a similar personality defect or benefit, whichever it serves at the time, and sometimes to our detriment. We all seem to be " driven " people, perfectionists, and strivers, even if on different levels in different walks of life, for different purposes. What we may seem to consider just a little work seems to actually be a WHOLE lot of work and striving, whatever it is that we're each doing in our own way. This is just an observation I've made here over a lot of time. If it doesn't apply, it doesn't apply, I guess, but it sure seems that way. This is why I have to MAKE myself rest, and when I got thyroid disease, that was pretty much decided for me, whether I liked it or not, because of the nature of the disease and it's connection to adrenal fatigue and the like. It's very boring to me to do nothing or to be able to do nothing, or what I consider nothing, so there's where the anger can set in with me. Then I get twice as sick from the frustration of " what might have been " , or what I think I should be accomplishing, or even what is in my mind that I HAVE to accomplish. I'm sort of like my daddy there, and my mother always said so. She was right. I ALWAYS burned the candle at both ends, but I can't now, and this is one of the causes of this disease I believe, though certainly not the only one, even in the same person. I really HATE that I can't be all things to all people, and I truly mean that. It is part of a state of being a driven person, and I really haven't figured out why I'm like that, lol, it's one more worry and thing for me to stew about! Did you say you had tested for the adrenal fatigue or not, I can't remember? I never have, but I strongly suspect it in a whole bunch of us. Perimenopause doesn't make it any better, as we've got a boucoudle of issues when we hit that period of time, let alone all our thyroid problems. Estrogen dominance and lack of progesterone and all those combos of stuff are a lot of fun, I know. Then I wonder which one is which, is this the right combo, or do I have another issue I haven't even discovered yet. I WANNA FEEL GOOD ALL the time!!! Estrogen is a part of our feminine side, but darn, sometimes I wish that there was a way we could harpoon it and kill it, for gods sakes. I can hardly believe that we were meant to go into our later yrs in this condition!! My CURRENT HORMONAL EXPERIENCE is interesting... > > > I am on an optimal dose of Armour.......and I am very peri-meno. Guest guest
I've got the Holiday Stress thing too, , as there isn't much money to buy 6 children and 9 grandchildren presents, and this is depressing the heck out of me, but there's not much I can do about it this yr. Also, I'm scheduled to work Christmas Eve and Christmas night this yr, it's a nursing floor, and a nursing home simply doesn't close for the holidays, lol. That's just the way the schedule fell, and this yr, we are forbidden from trading shifts with anyone. Next yr, I have ALL the holidays off, and I was spoiled up to now, getting off on Christmas Eve for the last 5 yrs, on request. I am a graveyard worker, so that was perfect for me. I'm going to have to be 10 toes up for a lot of Christmas day, if I want to survive, so I think my daughter is going to be taking over some of the holiday feast, but I'm a control freak, when it comes to this, so this is depressing me also, hehe. Plus the cold. I'm handling the cold much better this yr, as in the last 5 yrs, I would go to work with two coats on, even while caring for my patients, but not this yr, so that has improved somewhat.
