Guest guest
Hi Janie, Thanks for your kind respond. > What I am trying to tell folks is that before you consider adding T4 to your Armour, at LEAST try upping your Armour to see if the raise removes the lingering symptoms. THEN, if you find you'd like to experiment adding the T4, go for it!! < I fully agree with you. It is very important that we find out what Armour does for us FIRST. My personal opinion is, that experimenting is the only way to find out. I'll take the med for the rest of my life, so I might as well get to the bottom... or the top. > Over the 2 years that this site has been existence, I've seen a few folks fail to go high enough with their Armour, still complaining of symptoms and thinking the Armour wasn't doing the job. Once they raised, the symptoms abated. And by raising the Armour, folks get the benefit of the added T4 plus the added T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. < I hear what you're saying, and to hear from your experience with this group is very useful and interesting. My question though is, if my TSH is 0.004, with Ft3 over the range and Ft4 almost over the range, where shall I go? > There is a possibility that you are converting, Margreet, and that adding the T4 helped because you are converting. And maybe, upping the Armour the way you did didn't work because it was too much direct T3. Who knows. Don't you wish we had a doc here who had ALL this knowledge and could give us the biological info we need!! LOL. < I guess you're the doc, LOL. I think I'm not converting, since when I increased my T4, (and reduced a little with Armour) I got all those hypo-symptoms with a vengeance. Synthetic T4 is a placebo for me. At least now I know for sure .... ;-)) Since T4 converts mainly in the peripheral tissues, there are many questions to answer .... I know some people who have no thyroid at all, yet, they function and are happy with T4 alone. It's a true mystery to me. All I can think of, is that I had a lot of antibiotics in the past, and my metabolism has never been strong.... also, 18 milicuries of RAI might do more harm to our body than destroying the thyroid alone. What are your thoughts on converting? Margreet. > Margreet, you had painful breasts when you were on 1/2 Armour and 1/2 T4?? How much of each were you on?? That is interesting. Painful breasts are usually due to estrogen dominance, so it makes you wonder why you would have estrogen dominance when you had, in essence, lowered your direct T3 because of the lowering of Armour. hmmmmm There is so much to learn!!< Yes, the more the circle of knowledge grows, the larger becomes it's surrounding area that we weren't aware of before ..... Painful breasts are a full-hypo symptom for me. The pain vanishes when I up my meds. > Janie > > > For me it's the same, I tried upping Armour to my highest limit, > but > > I could never get it right. Guest guest
I am hoping beyond hope that when I see a decent doctor that some of this mystery will be unraveled. Actually that is my main reason for trying again to see another doctor. ONE of them has t have a clue as to why I need this much thyroid to feel decent and I want to know why. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes?
