Clis, there are conversion charts (see on in FILES), but they are

HIGHLY incorrect. For example, I was on .125 Levoxyl, and the

conversion chart said my equivalent dose of Armour was 1 1/4 grains.

NOT. It turned out to be 3 grains. You will end up on a LOT more

than the equivalency.

When you go to that pharmacist, you need to make SURE you are buying

Armour. There will be an A on the tablet. Make sure. I've never

heard of a pharmacist selling drugs directly like that!

And if you buy a " month's supply " , how will you get the next month,

and the next month...and you will surely need more. If you are

thinking of self-treating, folks will often start on one grain or

less. But within 2-3 weeks, they go up a bit to prevent the hypo

from returning...and so on.

I think the problem isn;t the charts but that folk who are not optimally

treated on synthroid end up optimally treated on Armour - so its like

comparing apples with oranges. as the 'synthroid equivalent dose' is not

the same as an optimal dose.

I've noticed that folk who were treated with very low does of thryoxine

agree that the conversion chart is accurate ie 1/2 grain armour =50mcg

synthroid or 1 grain armour =100mcg synthroid but that only gives a

starting point , it doesn't reflect an optimal dose.
