Every time I have had gamma knife, the head frame is only on my head for that day. The doctors attach the head frame in the morning (right before the MRI) and then the doctors remove the head frame when they are finished with the treatment. The procedure takes most of the day. Is it truley that effective, is it worth wearing a halo for a while, are the tumors comming back? All these and more as to the treatments. Back when I had my first tumor removed there wasn't a choice, remove it completely with surgery and that is it. Yes it left my face a jumble my speach diffrent, lost hearing, well you know the corse. The second the same. Now the gamma knife is in operation and to hear of you all talking about it it sounds like the tumos come back in a worse or more indivudal tumors than what you started with. Is it worth the risk to use the knife? As to tumors on the spine. My nuerosurgen said that a gamma knife was out of the question. He said that there were too many and they are the size of a pincel head and they make up (in all) the size of a silver dollar ., blocking 85% to 90% of the spinal canal. Where were each of the 5 Gamma Ray treatments performed (city)given?, what areas of the body were done and what type of tumor was involved? The tumors were 6 @ 7 maybe 8 but that was a long time ago.
